Pollinate Group set to reach 53,000 homes in India through the Netherlands Enterprise Agency’s SDG7 Results

Pollinate Group has won a globally competitive tender process with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency to expand our market with basic energy services for more remote and poorer customers in India.

The SDG7 Results project means that over the next four years (from 2020 to 2024), our women-led distribution network will connect 53,000 households to clean energy, with access to solar products that meet strict specifications through Lighting Global. Products to be distributed include Greenlight Planet’s SunKing Pro 300, SunKing Boom and SunKing Home 60 system.

Payment for the work is results-based, meaning Pollinate Group is paid based on the number of people who have gained access to renewable energy technologies and services. Before payment, sales will also be verified independently by international accountancy and advice organisation KPMG.

“This is the first competitive tender that Pollinate Group has been awarded, and we were selected from 43 applicants around the world, to be one of only five companies selected to provide electricity access for SDG7 Results,” says Sujatha Ramani, CEO.

“The independent verification built into this project will continue to refine our data collection and impact reporting, as Pollinate Group remains committed to reaching the most marginalized communities and targeting customers who live on US$1.90-$3.20 a day.”

Internally the team is undergoing training to support the project, and navigate the deliverables in the context of COVID-19.

“We are so proud of the work of everyone involved to get Pollinate Group to this level, and it is incredibly important for us to continue to bring clean energy products to people living in extreme poverty, via our women-led, last mile distribution network,” says Ramani.

SDG7 Results also builds upon the impactful projects and support in 2019-2020 from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Business Partnerships Platform and the DOEN Foundation.
