Nepal woman helps COVID response

Nepal women show inspiring leadership to respond to COVID-19

We recently shared a story of Bahatum, a woman entrepreneur in our network in Lucknow, India, who directed a politician and media to follow social distancing for ration distribution and protect her community.

Here are seven women across our last mile distribution network in Nepal who have shown leadership, action and responsibility to ensure their communities stay safe. We are so proud of each and every one!

The local government has recognized Sita as a leader and has assigned her to collect daily wage earner data and coordinate relief issue ID cards, which help the unemployed workers access packages from the government. Sita has been a member of our network for November 2019.

How to support women like these

We’re delighted that UK aid is joining forces with us to bring recovery efforts focused in Nepal. They will match every dollar raised up to $10,000 to:

  • support market recovery
  • ensure the most vulnerable communities can access affordable clean energy
  • enable women entrepreneurs to regain income generation.

We’re proud this initiative will be funded with UK aid from the British people.
