Leaders supporting Indigenous rangers from Australia to join Pollinate Group leaders in India for a world-first, leadership knowledge exchange

In a world-first, cross-cultural, multidisciplinary knowledge exchange, leaders who support Indigenous rangers in Australia will join leaders from Pollinate Group in India for an intensive, immersive one week program, exchanging skills to lead social and environmental change.

The Executive Leadership Program collaboration between Karrkad Kanjdji Trust (“garr gut gun jee”) (KKT), Mimal Land Management Aboriginal Corporation (Mimal) and Pollinate Group has been made possible by the support of Australian Ethical.

KKT works with Indigenous ranger groups in one of the most culturally rich and biodiverse regions of Australia, West and Central Arnhem Land. KKT partnered with Mimal in 2018, which is at the very heart of Arnhem Land.

“Women, especially those living in neglected or remote communities around the world, face similar challenges to start a business – may that be because of a lack of confidence, lack of access to finance or lack of ongoing support,” says Alexie Seller, CEO and Co-Founder, Pollinate Group.

Due to the aspirations of the community, KKT work with Mimal to support the growth and development of the Mimal Women’s Ranger Team, which has the potential to reinvigorate traditional knowledge by creating a context in which this knowledge is valued and relevant, as well as providing women equal access to employment on Country.

“We look forward to learning with other inspiring leaders from different corners of the world to improve outcomes in the social and environmental space,” says Mimal.

To help make this happen, and to learn from Mimal’s approaches, Pollinate Group will share skills, insights and lessons of our work to empower women as leaders of change in the neglected communities of India and Nepal.

“Culture, religion, language or geography should never be a barrier to sharing solutions and opportunities that build healthier, more sustainable communities,” says Nick Chadwick, Foundation Officer at Australian Ethical.

Sita Adhikari from Pollinate Group also couldn’t be more excited to welcome her fellow participants.

“When women from neglected communities anywhere in the world can develop skills in management, entrepreneurship, and how to structure a business model to drive long-term, sustainable empowerment in communities it can break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. We’re incredibly proud to be involved in this wonderful collaboration,” Adhikari says.

As part of the Executive Leadership Program, participants will work on challenges such as inclusion and diversity, women in leadership and sustainability.

The 14-19 October, 2019 program in Bangalore is now closed to applications.
