Our high level theory of change

Our model ensures families living in poverty have access to household products that will improve their quality of life. Involving women is a key part of our model as they understand the challenges faced by other household managers, who are their customers. Women also stand to gain the most from a reliable and decent income.

Pollinate Group champions the social business model as a sustainable form of development. We also recognise the value of inspiring and engaging like-minded people to tackle global issues, such as those who participate in our programs.

Our model is based on creating livelihoods through clean energy and entrepreneurship for women living in poverty so they can eventually sustain themselves.

Due to societal norms, many women living in poverty do not have the flexibility to join us as full-time employees. By creating access to opportunities for financial independence, dignified work and awareness of products and alternatives, many women choose to join our network to learn, earn money, increase confidence and strengthen relationships in their communities.

As part of our approach to identify and recruit new women to join the network, we work closely with their family members to ensure full support on their journey.

What is a social business?

Pollinate Group was created and designed to address a social problem, which meets the definition of a social business created by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.

We operate like a business, but we have a purely social agenda. We reinvest any profits into the business with the aim of increasing social impact in the neglected communities we serve. Our registered charities in Australia and the United States mean we can invest in growth and continue to accelerate the scale of our impact.

Is there a definition for social business?

The world is still defining social business, social enterprise and social entrepreneurship. In Pollinate Group’s case we have a hybrid model.

Perhaps the most important point is not the semantics about the model, but focusing on outcomes, ethics and overall impact of an organisation.
